THE FACTORIES
Built for Scale
Starting in 2019, we’ve rolled out the world’s biggest network of Mushroom® Packaging plants. With more openings scheduled across Europe from Germany to France, you could even say we’re growing like Mycelium itself.
Beatles guitarist and committed Buddhist George Harrison used to live in Esher. And we’ve now done our bit for the town’s Karma by making it the base for our HQ and the UK’s first mycelium-based packaging plant.
With over 7,000 square feet dedicated to Mushroom® Packaging, Esher felt like a statement of intent when we opened there – to take this new material to the market at scale.
Now it is at the cutting edge of prototyping and Research & Development but with a very healthy 1million capacity.
A village in the Greater Nottingham area, Attenborough shares its name with the legendary broadcaster and journalist David.
The village was home to the UK’s largest Mushroom® Packaging facility at 7,500sq ft until we opened Beeston, more than doubling our UK-based capacity.
We’re sure Sir David would approve of its current 1.5million capacity and how that helps planet Earth.
Sofia is one of the oldest capital cities in Europe, extant for 7000 years and recorded since the Romans took possession in 29BC.
Today it is a thoroughly modern city with a vibrant tech start up scene and now home to the world's largest Mushroom® Packaging plant outside the UK at 12,500sq foot with a 3.5million capacity.
Our first inoculation plant, the Beeston facility is where we will soon combine agricultural by-product (mostly Hemp) with Mycelium cultures producing 3million kilos of raw material.
The busy bees of Beeston consider their town a hive of activity, although the name probably derives from the Anglo-Saxon for “bent grass.”
And the 15,000sq ft hybrid plant will certainly be busy with a 4million capacity on top.
