WELCOMING TWO EXCEPTIONAL ENGINEERS: SOPHIE RUSH AND ISABEL PAYNE

We are delighted to announce that two of the UK's most talented young engineers, Sophie Rush and Isabel Payne are joining Magical Mushroom Company® full-time!

Engineering excellence is at the heart of our mission to disrupt polystyrene with better performance and price parity. Sophie and Isabel's expertise will help drive our innovation forward as we continue to scale sustainable packaging solutions.

PROCESS ENGINEER

Sophie Rush, our new Process Engineer, combines creative problem-solving with practical process and automation expertise. She recently completed her Masters in Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Nottingham, where her final project focused on redesigning a nebuliser for greater accuracy and sustainability.

As a recipient of the prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship- awarded to the most promising engineering talent in the UK- Sophie has already been instrumental in designing a revolutionary new growing rack for MMC, a testament to her impact and innovation.

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER

Isabel Payne joins us as Industrial Engineer after graduating with first-class honours in Product Design Engineering from the University of Glasgow and the Glasgow School of Art. Isabel is a multi-award-winning designer, including the 2025 Autodesk Industry Award as well as recognition for her work increasing access to sanitary care in rural areas and developing a novel mycelium-based system to remediate polluted waterways. Over the past year, Isabel has been instrumental in designing the layout of our Beeston facility- now the world's largest liquid inoculation plant for mycelium packaging.

Please join us in congratulating Sophie and Isabel as they embark on this exciting next chapter with MMC!
