To reduce their carbon footprint and create innovative, eco-friendly products, AllSfär partnered with Magical Mushroom Company® to develop FIKA—a range of acoustic wall tiles made from 100% biodegradable mycelium. THE PROBLEM
FINDING A UK PRODUCED, SUSTAINABLE, ACOUSTIC MATERIAL
The construction sector generates significant waste, and AllSfär clients increasingly requested sustainable acoustic products to reduce environmental impact.
While AllSfär’s existing products are made from 60% post-consumer waste, the company wanted to explore even more sustainable materials to align with client demands and their mission to reduce plastic dependency.
The challenge was to find a material that could deliver both acoustic performance and environmental benefits while supporting UK manufacturing.
THE SOLUTION
WORKED IN PARTNERSHIP TO DEVELOP ACOUSTIC PANELS
AllSfär collaborated with Magical Mushroom Company® to develop FIKA, a range of acoustic wall tiles made from mycelium, a natural material known for its sound absorption properties.
As a UK-based company and leader in mushroom-based innovation, MMC worked closely with AllSfär to prototype and manufacture FIKA tiles using mycelium and organic materials.
This partnership resulted in a flexible, sustainable, and functional alternative to traditional acoustic materials, meeting AllSfär’s commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation.

AllSfär launched FIKA during Clerkenwell Design Week at their new showroom to rave reviews from architects and interior designers, who called it a game changer for sustainable design.
The innovative range captured the attention of festival organisers, earning a feature on the Sustainability Trail, as well as coverage in leading trade publications like Mix Interiors and Dezeen.
